Committed to Reducing Health Disparities, C.H.E.F.® Adds Paola Maranan to Board

Paola Maranan, Executive Director of the Children’s Alliance in Seattle, has been elected to the Board of Directors at Comprehensive Health Education Foundation C.H.E.F.).
Seattle (PRWEB) August 21, 2008 — Comprehensive Health Education Foundation (C.H.E.F.?®) announced that it has elected Paola Maranan to its Board of Directors. Since 2004, Maranan has been the Executive Director of the Children’s Alliance in Seattle, Washington, which is Washington’s leading statewide child advocacy organization. A demonstrated leader with commitment to and passion for reducing health disparities, she brings a wealth of experience to the C.H.E.F. Board.

Maranan has been involved with the Children’s Alliance in a variety of roles over the past fifteen years, including nine years as its Public Policy Director. Among her key accomplishments, Maranan helped to define and direct the organization’s public policy priorities, design and provide advocacy training to groups across Washington State, and also coordinate efforts to identify and respond to the needs of children and families of color.
After leaving the Children’s Alliance in 2002, Maranan served as Program Manager for the Children’s Initiative at United Way of King County. During this time, she maintained her connection to the Children’s Alliance by serving on its Board of Directors. Earlier in her career, Maranan was employed by the Washington State Family Policy Council, and the Washington State Commission on African American Affairs. Prior to working in Washington State, she spent a portion of her career in Alabama addressing issues that included voting rights and prison reform. Maranan received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from Harvard University.
